topical medication application guide
your quick guide to applying your topical treatments with care, precision, and confidence

1. wash hands thoroughly
before touching any skin-treatment product, wash with warm water and soap to prevent contamination and ensure clean application.
2. gather all supplies
collect your topical medicine, clean applicator (if provided), cotton swabs/pads, a mirror if needed, tissues, and your treatment log.

3. clean and prepare the skin
gently cleanse the area to remove oils, sweat, makeup, or lotion. pat fully dry — most topical medications require clean, dry skin for proper absorption.
4. measure the correct dose
check the medication instructions for the amount: pea-sized, thin layer, number of drops, or a specific measured amount. do not over-apply.

5. apply the medication
use clean fingers, cotton swabs, or the included applicator. spread evenly over the targeted area. avoid eyes, mouth, and broken skin unless directed by your provider.
6. allow proper absorption time
let the medication absorb fully before touching clothing, applying other products, or washing the area. some medicines require 5–15 minutes of drying time.

7. monitor how your skin responds
check for improvements, dryness, redness, irritation, or sensitivity. document changes daily in your log — this helps your provider adjust your plan.
8. store properly & follow instructions
keep the medication stored as directed (room temp or refrigerated). follow dosing frequency exactly and attend routine follow-ups or send updates as instructed.
